Holi 2023 is on March 8, and we cannot keep calm. The festival of colour is here, and every household is bracing itself to play with gulal. The only problem is getting the colour out of your skin without looking like a swollen monkey.
Depending on the skin type, Holi colours react differently. However, without paying heed to our dermal layer, we all take a similar approach to get rid of the colour, scrubbing vigorously, which sometimes just worsens the situation.
Therefore, we spoke with Shahnaz Husain, a hair and beauty expert, to bring you homemade masks that would work wonders for dry skin. These solutions will help you get rid of Holi colours without causing any harm. However, we suggest you do a patch test of every DIY method before proceeding.
How Season Affects Dry Skin
Holi marks the beginning of the summer season in North India. During winter, dry skin is already prone to lose its moisture. Exposure to the sun, hot water and soaps can further leave the dermal layer feeling dry and patchy.
Moreover, Holi colours can strip off any remaining moisture. Hence, Husain suggests adding hydrating ingredients to the masks.
Our expert also advises applying sunscreen before playing with colours. When it comes to cleaning, you shouldApply a cleanser containing aloe vera gel which will rehydrate the dermal layer.Massage your face gently with your fingers.Wipe off the excessive cream using a damp piece of cotton. Apply a toner or rose water at the end.
